Angela & Adam’s engagement session

September 29, 2008

Angela & Adam are one of those fun, down-to-earth couples that just make you smile! Of course, it’s easy to have fun when we have so much in common, like east TN roots, UT football, and a love for cowboy boots.
We had gorgeous weather during our session and a warm sunset on the walking bridge with a cool breeze. And nothing tops off an evening downtown like a yummy ice cream at Mike’s on Broadway!
I can’t wait to shoot their wedding at Hunter Valley Farm. It is bound to be perfect–it’s my blessed birthday weekend!

Emily & T.C.’s engagement session

September 22, 2008

I’m a country girl from East TN, so when Emily said that T.C. wanted some photos with their tractor, I was all about roaming the fields. (Note to self: wear pants and boots next time.) They chose some beautiful spots near Springfield and Orlinda, TN, and the skies were just gorgeous for us. I hope it’s just as picturesque for their wedding in November!

Billie & Eric 9.13.08

September 20, 2008

Billie & Eric were all about having a great time and making sure all their guests did the same! The dancefloor at Cedarvine Manor was never empty and the party kept going on after the reception with karaoke in the main house. I’m pretty sure even I shook my tailfeathers a bit!
I love it when children are not shy in front of the camera, and little hams in this wedding kept me snapping all night in their adorable red slippers. Here are a few shots from the festivities. I had a blast you guys!

Allison & Matt’s engagement session

September 11, 2008

Whew! The pretty blue eyes on these two!
Meeting Allison & Matt proved it is a small world. Not only did all three of us grow up in Knoxville, but we were all at my cousin’s wedding a few years ago, and they are pals with much of my family–who knew?
We did their engagement session early on Monday to ensure that Allison would make it back to Big Orange country in time for her 5pm class. Despite the heat and the unbearably bright sun, we got some great shots downtown.
(Special thanks to my hubby for filling in as assistant and official “sun-shader!”)

Brittany & Mike & the purple tu-tu

September 11, 2008

The conversation went something like this:
Shanell: Cool. I’ll be in a green Honda Passport.
Brittany: Ok. I’ll be in a purple tu-tu.

What? SCORE! I knew then we would have an awesome time! Enter Brittany & Mike. This rockin’ couple will be married 10/25 and the photo gods smiled on me to be chosen as their photographer. We had a blast and they didn’t mind scaling walls or sharing an elevator with someone’s dinner all over the floor (what WAS that anyway! Ewww!). Thanks for sharing the adventure B&M!

Jenny & Joel 8.29.08

September 3, 2008

Jenny & Joel were married 8/29 at the beautiful and serene Deer Run Lodge & Retreat in Thompson Station. They were surrounded by a small group of family and dear friends who included me like one of their own. I love, love, love intimate ceremonies, and these two made every moment precious. Thanks for having me! (Check out the grooms niece trying her best to escape!!)

Vienna Waits for You

September 3, 2008

My new pal Anne-Geri’ Fann of Blue Mountain Travel Company asked me to shoot her pal Jeffrey Williams’ show at 3rd and Lindsley last Friday night. Now, I’m always up for a night on the town and some good music, but I didn’t realize that I would be in the presence of such AMAZING talent! Jeffrey is a musician/actor/vocal coach who put together a one-man-with-a-band-and-backup-singers show which follows a guy through his journey into adulthood via the songs of Billy Joel…WHO DOESN’T LOVE BILLY JOEL???
Check this Jeffrey kid out. You’ll be seeing him again!
Here are a few shots from the show.
